Now, this is a gem – one of the best Croatia destinations that a tourist can select. The question is, ‘what’s so special about this national park?’. This national park has been listed since 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a place where 16 crystalline lakes form a surreal atmosphere. All these lakes are connected with each other with waterfalls. It is not a free place to roam around and requires visitors to buy a ticket. The best way to wander around the park is on foot, and it will take approximately 6 hours or so. But it is worth the time spent. With more than 120 bird species and resident wolves and bears, this national park never fails to woo the travelers who travel to Croatia. Just one thing to remember – swimming isn’t allowed in any of the lakes. Also, those who want to explore via buses and boats, they are most welcome to do so with free services provided by the park.

On the River Noord between Rotterdam and Dordrecht is the famous village of Kinderdijk (“Children’s Dike”), which takes its name from an incident during the St. Elizabeth’s Day flood of 1421 after a child’s cradle had been stranded on the dike. The big draw these days are the fantastically preserved 18th-century windmills. Now UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the 19 Kinderdijk windmills, built between 1722 and 1761, are the largest surviving concentration of windmills in the Netherlands. Originally used to drain the fenlands, these majestic buildings with their impressive 92-foot sails are open to the public from April to October, including special Mill Days when the sails are set in motion.

Just outside the Mdina ramparts is the neighboring town of Rabat. Tourists can see both cities in the same day; Mdina and Rabat are sometimes considered to be one unified urban area. In Maltese, the word “Rabat” means “suburb.” Rabat is less touristy and more modern than Mdina, but there are noteworthy historical attractions. One of the hidden gems is the Casa Bernard, a grand 16th-century house that belonged to a noble Maltese family of French origins. Although the Casa Bernard is still a private residence, it is open to the public for guided tours. The Roman Villa archaeological site boasts some of the finest 1st-century BC Roman mosaics in the world. A key landmark tied to Malta’s Christian heritage, the 17th-century Church of Saint Paul, stands above the Grotto of Saint Paul, where it is said that the saint found refuge during his stay in Malta. Given its relatively mild weather and the existence of numerous beaches, Kalymnos is a great place for sunbathing. Though the island is adorned with an infinite number of beautiful beaches, some two particularly stand out. These are the Masouri Beach, Sikati, On the Rocks, and Melitsachas Beach. They are relatively clean, less crowded, appropriately sheltered from direct exposure to the adverse weather elements, and experience an unconstrained supply of fresh air. Moreover, they have several shades nearby. These offer excellent opportunities for you to sit and relax with your spouse. This area experiences limited fluctuations in environmental conditions year-round. It is hence a good place to come to sunbathe in during the harsh winter months that the continental Europe experiences.
